This year marks 88 years of Central Community House serving as a safe haven that provides access to immediate help and supportive services for community members. On Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 4-7, we are hosting our Annual Village Makers Festival to celebrate.
At Central Community House, we believe in the power of community. In recent years, we’ve overhauled our biggest fundraising event to focus less on dollars and cents, and more on bringing our neighbors together. We recognize that our neighborhood is changing – it is our goal to support our existing residents while connecting our new neighbors to the rich history of the Near East. And what better way to do that than over food, music, and dancing?!
Our Village Makers Festival brings folks together from all over Columbus to honor our community heroes, while also providing a delicious meal from local vendors, live entertainment, and tons of games for the kids!
Village Makers Festival will take place outdoors on the greenspace at the English Center for Art & Community (1251 Bryden Road, Columbus) and feature an evening of live music, performances, art, and other talent showcases from nationally and locally renowned artists, and Central Community House Youth.
Directly prior to the event there will be presentations of Central Community House’s annual Village Makers Awardees. Individuals, businesses, or groups who are making significant contributions to the Near East community and support for Central’s mission are nominated from the community and selected by a committee of Board, staff, and volunteers to receive the Village Maker Awards. The actual awards are a framed print of artwork by one of our Master Artists with the TRANSIT ARTS program at Central Community House.
Enjoy food trucks and concessions, beer and wine, artist galleries, games, raffles, and prizes! Learn about the essential programs and services you can connect with at Central Community House, and have a fun day outing with your entire family.
Proceeds from sponsorships and raffles are used to help Central Community House serve over 5,000 people annually in our community struggling with the effects of poverty and to provide valuable, empowering programs for local children, teens, families, and seniors. Over 300 supporters and fellow advocates for the community will be in attendance.
