TAP Named "Outstanding Case Study" in Cornell University Report
The Technology Access Program (TAP) of Central Community House was recently cited in a national study by the Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning as one of four projects considered an “outstanding use of American Rescue Plan Act funds” meant to improve broadband access, affordability, and adoption. In their report, they praised CCH’s “deep and relevant community knowledge” for helping policymakers design a technology program that could quickly and effectively meet the needs of our senior neighbors.
TAP provides seniors with Chromebooks, internet hotspots, and the training needed to increase their understanding and utilization of technology, allowing them to stay connected with family, friends, services, and resources. 93% of program participants report that having access to technology helps them combat social isolation, and 57% of participants increase their technology skill level after engaging with TAP.
CCH is thankful for our local partnership with Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS), and investments from Spectrum, The Ohio State University School of Social Work, The Isabelle Ridgway Foundation, and the Franklin County Office on Aging that has allowed us to serve 205 seniors with technology access and training since 2020.
