From the Director’s Chair

A message from the Executive Director, Tammy Forrest

Today is the last day of summer camp at Central, and I would be remiss not to thank the outstanding staff who have made programming successful this year. I feel fortunate to have been greeted in the morning by smiling faces, sometimes a little tired, but so eager! Days were full, and they were meaningful.

I saw staff wrap their arms around whole families to celebrate and offer support. I saw screaming fun and water games at the green space at Bryden. I saw local artists take great care as they engaged with youth in projects that taught them about their heritage. I saw staff and kids come back from field trips, satisfied, and a little exhausted. And I saw reading, and kids engaged in stories and using their imaginations.   

Today we will take some time to celebrate through the end of summer showcase. But words can’t express the gratitude families, community, and I have for the hard work and planning it took to create such fun, carefree days.
