Important Program Updates

Dear Central Community House Community,

We hope you are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times, and miss be able to see you often in person.

We are writing today with an update regarding programming in the near future. As I am sure you know, COVID-19 cases are on the rise, and indicators higher than they have been since the onset in March 2020. Today we reached the highest “purple” rating in the ODH’s color-coded warning system of COVID-19 spread. Governor DeWine has asked that Ohio residents abide by an overnight curfew (10pm to 5am) for the next 3 weeks in hopes of stemming the current surge. The City of Columbus and Franklin County Officials have encouraged residents not to leave their home for anything other than work and school, are discouraging family thanksgiving celebrations that include family and friends that do not live in the same home, and are encouraging businesses to allow for as much “working from home” as possible.

We are taking these guidelines very seriously, with your health and safety in mind. As a result, the below programmatic decisions have been made, to be implemented as of Monday, November 23, 2020. At this point, we do not know how long these changes will be in place, but will start with 3 weeks (Nov 23-Dec 13), and provide updates at that time.

The health advisory from the City of Columbus and Franklin County states that “residents are advised to only leave home to go to work or school, or for essential needs such as seeking medical care, going to the grocery store or pharmacy, and picking up food.” To support you safely, and as best we can within these guidelines, the following services have been deemed essential with staff onsite for service provision

  1. Central’s Learning Enrichment Center (LEC), supporting youth with virtual learning, and enabling parents to work

  2. Senior Transportation to Grocery Stores, Senior Deliveries, and Senior Stoop Wellness Checks

  3. Therapeutic Services for Youth as part of the Commission on Black Girls’ Initiative through TRANSIT ARTS

  4. Basic Need Deliveries and To-Go Meals (and drive thru pick up of holiday meals/gifts)

  5. Reception answering phones to direct calls personally and efficiently

The following programmatic activities have been deemed as non-essential and/or effective through remote service provision. Staff associated with these activities are being asked to work from home, and these services will be provided remotely/virtually.

  1. Family Stabilization and Case Management Services [EXCEPTION: We will hold one walk-in day on Tuesday November 24th; walk-ins will then be replaced by virtual appointments]

  2. Academy for Community Entrepreneur (ACE) Programming

  3. All Workshops and Classes

  4. Family-to-Family Socialization Activities

  5. Senior Socialization Activities

  6. TRANSIT ARTS Onsite Creative Youth Engagement

Thank you for your understanding. We are here for you. Call if you need us at 614.252.3157.

Warm regards,

CCH Leadership Team
