Intro:
Neighborhood Support and Development services continue to provide
support leading to the self-sufficiency of indviduals and families.
Steady progress remains in our efforts to reduce the disparity that
exists in this neighborhood in the areas of employment, housing, and
poverty.
Opportunity
Knocks program:
CCH is one
of six Columbus settlement houses which provide home visits by
Opportunity Knocks advocates. These advocates help families
transitioning from public assistance to develop plans for employment
and self-sufficiency.
How does
OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS work?
Advocates will visit prospective clients in their home, or any
pre-arranged meeting place. They will then assess the current family's
situation and identify the needs and barriers. From there an action
plan will be developed to bring about self-sufficiency. Services
provided include job training, barrier removal, and family support
programs.
Americorps
Program:
We offer
written materials and assistance in setting up neighborhood programs.
Home
Buyers Workshop:
CCH
sponsors homeownership workshops conducted by Columbus Neighborhood
Housing Services.
Health
Screenings:
We
coordinate with medical professionals to provide annual screenings for
high blood pressure and diabetes as well as flu and pneumonia shots for
neighborhood residents. Most screenings are offered at no cost.
Voter
Registration:
Voter
registration cards are available for neighborhood residents who wish to
vote.
Employment
Services:
CCH is
committed to helping neighborhood residents achieve their employment
goals by assisting them in several ways. For further information

Senior
Outreach Program:
CCH
believes our neighborhood is enriched by the wealth of expertise,
knowledge and wisdom that our Senior Adults share and is the foundation
of our community. The Senior Outreach program is designed to enhance
the quality of life of our older adults. For further information

Emergency
Services:
CCH
provides limited assistance for health issues, housing, and utilities
on an emergency basis.
Housing
Development Assistance: CCH is eligible to complete and submit
applications for FEMA assistance. In partnership with other
organizations, we complete, submit and review applications for the
Homeless Prevention Program for those who meet the qualifications of
that program.
Food
Pantry:
Once a month assistance for nutritional needs is available
to those who are homeless, unemployed or experiencing a financial
hardship.
